A field trip would include the following:
- Our educational facilities include displays about bees (an observation bee hive which allows you safely to observe the inner workings of a bee colony), pumpkin plant life cycle, cows, chickens, and other farm life elements. We also provide interesting educational facts about the crops growing in the fields at Ganyard Hill Farm.
- We have 2 different crop mazes for you to tour - corn and sorghum.
- A scenic hayride tour of the farm.
- In our real, live pumpkin field, select and pick your very own pumpkin right from the mother vine, an opportunity unique from any other pumpkin patch in the RTP area. A field with 1,000s of pumpkins still on the vine provides a great learning experience for kids.
- Free pumpkins for teachers (ratio 1/10 students)
- An opportunity to feed the animals in the Ganyard Barnyard, complete with picking your own corn and shelling it in an old-fashioned hand-cranked corn sheller
- A visit to the barn market and time to play in the hay maze
- Playtime climbing and tumbling on Hay Mountain
- A special 'Pumpkin Farm' coloring book!
- The experience of life on a farm with personal attention from Farmer Ganyard, himself!
School field trip farm admission is only $10.00 per student and $10.00 per parent; and teachers are admitted free in a ratio of one teacher for every 10 students. Coming soon: Ideas to integrate your field trip into your lesson plans!
